Why optimal vitamin D levels matter.

Vitamin D is a TEST – DON’T GUESS situation for me.

Vitamin D receptors are on almost every tissue and cell within the body the benefit of vitamin D goes beyond the bone health.

Evidence shows that vitamin D deficiency has been associated with poor outcomes in diabetes, cancer, pregnancy, sepsis, lung infections and organ transplantation.

Low vitamin D levels are linked with greater illness severity, morbidity, and mortality in both adult and pediatric intensive care unit (ICU) patient.

Common symptoms of vitamin D deficiency include:

  • Frequent infections or illnesses
  • Fatigue and muscle weakness
  • Bone and joint pain
  • Fractures
  • Depression
  • Slow wound healing

Vitamin D levels are very closely linked to phosphorus and calcium levels within the body, so before supplementing, at high doses for long periods seek assessment by your health practitioner.
