Staying on top of health goals

With March over, and spring around the corner (perhaps down the road a few kilometres).  I thought I would relate this post back to my new years goals and let you know how they were going.  (Original post here)

January – My elimination diet went successfully completing 2 weeks, I for sure noticed more energy with cutting out some inflammatory foods like gluten and dairy from my diet.  I did however note, that because this year when completing my elimination diet I was very hungry, perhaps because by body is using those extra nutrients for breastfeeding.

February – I am back into my yoga routine so between attending classes at The Twisted Fish in Port Dover, I integrated my home practice to be the relaxation time I needed each day.  (Some days this is easier then others)

March was a challenge because lets face winter seemed to drag on, leaving everyone ready to get outside, change our routine, and diet.  Because the weather has remained cool, I find that it is best to stick with warm foods, easier for the digestion.

My favourite lunch has been Sweet Potatoe with Mexican Black Beans.

1 sweet potatoe chopped and steamed

1 can of black beans (rinsed)

1/2 red pepper chopped

1/2 onion chopped

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp chili powder

Saute the onion in some oil with peppers until soft, add chili powder and cumin.

Add in black beans and saute until warm.

Combine sweet potatoe and beans & enjoy!

Stay tuned for more updates as I continue aiming toward my health goals.
